March 17th Seminar
"Ken Wright Cellars"
- Jackalope Grill
- 4:00-6:00 (Arrive 15 min. early.)
On Monday, March 17th, Women Tasting Wine will feature wines from Ken Wright Cellars, presented by Cellar Assistant Julianne Nelson. Located in rural Carlton, Oregon, Ken Wright Cellars was founded in 1993 and its first vintage was produced in 1994. The winery is situated in the Willamette Valley, where about two-thirds of Oregon’s wineries and vineyards can be found. Buffered from Pacific storms on the west by the Coast Range, the valley follows the Willamette River north to south for more than a hundred miles from the Columbia River near Portland to just south of Eugene.
Known for his highly-rated, single-vineyard Pinot Noir, Ken also produces two white wines in limited production: Chardonnay from Celilo Vineyard near White Salmon, Washington, and Pinot Blanc from Freedom Hill Vineyard and Meredith Mitchell Vineyard. In 2003 he introduced a new label, Tyrus Evan, producing Claret, Syrah, Malbec and Cabernet Franc. Wright used the middle names of his two sons, Cody and Carson, for the new label.
Join us in tasting some of these fine wines, paired with coplementary small plates creatively prepared by Chef Tim Garling.
We will meet on Monday, March 17th, from 4:00-6:00 at Jackalope Grill, 750 Lava Road. The cost is $45.
To facilitate making your reservation for the January 20 WTW Seminar, we will be accepting credit cards as well as cash or checks (made out to “Women Tasting Wine.”) You can drop off your check at Bend Wine Cellar Thursday or Saturday from 2:00-5:00. (Stop by Saturday and enjoy a complimentary wine tasting.) You can also call Diane (388-7564) with your credit card information. As the menu is a fixed one and not a la carte, please let us know at the time of registration if you have any food allergies. We need to have our final numbers in on the Wednesday before the event for the purpose of ordering the food, so payment needs to be received by Wednesday, March 12.
Remember, reservations are on a first come, first served basis and your payment is your reservation. Since we have to have our “head count” in by Wednesday morning, there will be no refunds for cancellations after 9:00 AM Wednesday, March 12, or for no-shows on the day of the seminar.
We hope to see you in March and at future monthly Women Tasting Wine Seminars!
