February 20th Seminar

"Maysara Winery"

Presented by Naseem Momtazi

  • Jackalope Grill
  • 4:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. (arrive 15 minutes early!)
  • $45.00

Maysara Winery, founded in 2001 by Moe and Flora Momtazi, is situated in the McMinnville AVA (American Viticultural Area), a blend of geo-climatic factors that make it unique among Willamette Valley AVAs. Specifically, the area encompasses the land above 200 feet and below 1000 feet in elevation on the east and southeast slopes of the foothills of the Coast-range Mountains.

Maysara Winery practices Biodynamic agriculture, believing that healthy soil and healthy vines will produce superior grapes, without the need for commercial chemicals and man-made poisons. The quality of their wines shows in the dedication of their grape buyers year after year, and the award winning wines they produce from the Momtazi fruit. The consistent, high quality wines made from the Momtazi fruit proves that their dedication to the terroir and their Biodynamic farming technique is well worth the effort.

As an example of the quality of their wines, their 2009 Pinot Noir McMinnville Estate Cuvée has received 94 points from Wine Spectator, 92 pts from Wine & Spirit, and 91 pts from Wine Advocate.  Here is the review from Wine Spectator: "Supple, sumptuous and distinctive for its range of cherry, boysenberry, floral and dark chocolate flavors dancing suavely throughout the long extensive finish. The tannins are submerged and this has miles to go! Drink now through 2019."

Join us on Monday, February 20 at Jackalope Grill, as we taste some of these fine wines paired with Chef Tim’s savory creations.

We will meet on Monday, February 20, from 4:00-6:00 at Jackalope Grill.  The cost is $45.

To facilitate making your reservation for the February 20 WTW Seminar, we will be accepting credit cards as well as cash or checks (made out to “Women Tasting Wine.”)  You can drop off your check at Bend Wine Cellar Thursday or Saturday from 2:00-5:00.  (Stop by Saturday and enjoy a complimentary wine tasting.)  You can also call Diane (388-7564) with your credit card information. Please let us know at the time of registration if you have any food allergies.  We need to have our final numbers in on the Wednesday before the event for the purpose of ordering the food, so payment needs to be received by Wednesday, February 15.

Remember, reservations are on a first come, first served basis and your payment is your reservation.  Since we have to have our “head count” in by Wednesday morning, there will be no refunds for cancellations after 9:00 AM Wednesday, February 15, or for no-shows on the day of the seminar.

We hope to see you in February and at future monthly Women Tasting Wine Seminars!

Prost!
